LNCT Webinar: Assessing Bottlenecks to Adequate and Predictable Vaccine Financing

June 23, 2020

Please join us on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 for LNCT webinar, Assessing Bottlenecks to Adequate and Predictable Vaccine Financing. Diagnosing the root cause of constraints affecting the adequacy and predictability of vaccine financing is an important part of the Gavi transition. The World Bank created a tool that aims to help country counterparts pinpoint the root cause of their vaccine financing constraints. Participants will learn how the tool helps identify “risks” in the budgeting and planning process that would either prevent a country from allocating adequate, timely and predictable financing for vaccines, either in its co-financing payments to Gavi or through its payments for other non-Gavi subsidized vaccines. Participants will discuss the results in the context of Nigeria’s transition planning process and discuss how recognition of weaknesses in vaccine planning, forecasting and budgeting led to policy actions that would pave the way for a successful transition. The discussion will also highlight challenges facing the country in the context of the COVID-19 crisis and how work on transition planning might help to mitigate this impact.
