The immunization program is at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic in anticipation for the new COVID-19 vaccine (COVAX). Countries need to prepare for the introduction of COVAX along with routine immunization and campaigns. The introduction of a new vaccine impacts on program planning, budgeting, cold chain system and the workforce. In preparation for COVAX, we are not oblivious to the current challenges with the workforce: limited personal protection and equipment (PPE) for safety, staff shortages, poor motivation, inadequate compensation, attrition and limited capacity.

Join the Boost Community’s Supporting Supervisors during COVID-19 Learning Group on Monday, October 26 at 9:00 AM EDT for an interesting conversation with People that Deliver and UNICEF colleagues where we shine spotlight on human resources requirements and consideration for new vaccine introduction from a supply perspective.

We will provide answers to the following questions:

• How can we prepare the health and supply workforce in anticipation for the COVID vaccine?
• What critical elements should be put in place to strengthen HR to ensure availability of vaccines, cold chain and related commodities within the EPI?
• What actions should countries prioritize in the coming year to improve HR availability, capacity and retention especially at sub-national levels?
