LNCT Member Highlight: Sri Lanka’s Transition from Gavi Support

Sri Lanka’s national immunization program is cited globally and regionally as a successful model. The Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) maintains high coverage (98-100%) of all vaccines it offers, and a low incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases covered by the program.

Since 2016, the immunization program has also been self-funded. On November 19th, speakers will reflect on Sri Lanka’s experience transitioning from Gavi support and share a current perspective on challenges related to sustainability and maintaining the gains made in disease control over the past 30 years.

LNCT Webinar: Engaging the Private Sector to Support Immunization Delivery – Lessons from Nigeria

Nigeria’s experience with the private sector demonstrates the range of private sector actors that can be engaged and the many different ways in which the private sector can support the national immunization program to improve outcomes. On Thursday, October 22nd, LNCT held a webinar on Engaging the Private Sector to Support Immunization Delivery: Lessons from Nigeria. Speakers will present on the following topics:

  • Provision of immunization services in the private sector
  • Engagement of CSOs to support advocacy and demand generation
  • Partnership with commercial sector company to improve cold chain maintenance

LNCT Webinar Resources: New Tools to Track and Measure Equity

On Thursday, September 17 LNCT and the Vaccine Economics Research for Sustainability & Equity (VERSE) Project held a joint webinar on New Tools to Measure and Track Vaccine Equity. The VERSE team at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) presented an innovative toolkit that is under development to measure and track vaccine equity.

On June 23, 2020, LNCT held a webinar, Assessing Bottlenecks to Adequate and Predictable Vaccine Financing. Diagnosing the root cause of constraints affecting the adequacy and predictability of vaccine financing is an important part of the Gavi transition. The World Bank created a tool that aims to help country counterparts pinpoint the root cause of their vaccine financing constraints.

LNCT hosted a webinar on February 6, 2020 on Addressing Vaccine Hesitancy Challenges. The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine presented a summary of the key issues and lessons learned during LNCT’s vaccine hesitancy workshop which took place in Geneva in November 2019. Armenia shared their experience introducing the HPV vaccination, challenges (including on social media), what worked, and lessons learned.
